On May 16th we started our yearly tradition of going to Lake Pleasant most spring and summer Monday's for Family Home Evening. We invite all of the boats in our ward to go, and take as many families as possible with us. It is always a great time!

Our Favorite Phoenix Missionary!
Elder Colton Mouritsen is serving in the Phoenix Mission right now. Colton is a long time family friend of ours. Colton's uncle Trever Figgins served his mission in Tennessee with Justin. Justin and Trever have kept in contact all of these years. Colton is the son of Trever's sister Aimee. For many years, our family, Trever's family and Aimee's family have gone to Lake Powell together. Both Trever's and Aimee's families live in Utah. When we found out that Colton would be serving his mission in Phoenix we were very excited and told his parents that we would keep an eye on him! So on his birthday we had dinner and a birthday cake for him. He is an amazing missionary!
Easter 2011
I love Easter! The Easter Bunny comes to our house on Friday night. This way we have all day Saturday to enjoy all of the chocolate and candy we want! We are then able to focus on the true meaning of Easter on Sunday morning. Every year we get new Easter dresses (or ties), which is always fun for me! After church we then celebrate again! A big FEAST a GIANT easter egg hunt, and then followed by a GIGANTIC plastic egg war! At the end of the war we are usually covered in welts, but it is way worth it! My brother Jason started the egg war tradition about 5 years ago and it just gets more fun every year!
1st Time Camping!
Yes, it is true, our girls had never been camping before we went with the young women in our ward! They had a great time, but didn't think they needed to do it very often!
Volunteer of the Year!
This is what happens when you volunteer to be the PTSO President for your children's grade school! You work enough hours a week to be volunteer of the year! I had no idea the job would take so many hours!

88
Justin's Grandma Murphy came from Idaho to celebrate her 88th Birthday. She is an amazing woman. She lives in Idaho and takes care of her younger brother who is unable to care for himself. She is a breast cancer survivor herself, and can make, build, sew, cook, or fix anything! Happy 88th Birthday Grandma Murphy!
Dad Retires!
Last Monday after my dad finished his last day of work, we celebrated! Robyn was here visiting from Colorado, so the timing was perfect! My whole family was together to wish dad a "Happy Retirement".
Prom
Someday (hopefully next year when Alyssa is 16) I will have the chance to get one of my own girls ready for the Prom! I have had the chance to help others with their Prom preparations for the past 3 years! Year 1 I helped Lindsey do her hair, and took her to get her nails done, because her mom was out of town. Year 2 a bunch of girls and guys from my ward came over and I took photos of them in our backyard. And, year 3 I made sleeves for Alyssa's friend Emily's dress. I can't wait, it will be so fun to dress up my girls like a princess! It has been awhile since they have let me do that!
Spring Break
Ever since I was a kid I have wanted to go climb on the rock formations that are by the Phoenix Zoo. They look so cool as you drive along the 202 or fly over Phoenix! So we took a trip over to Papago Park and hiked around the rocks. The view was great and we even saw biggest lizard I have ever seen! Amanda hates lizards and wanted to go home as soon as we saw it! She makes me laugh!
Double Digit
I can't believe my Tan Man is 10! I remember turning 10 myself. I stood watching my mom sew me a dress to wear the next day on my birthday. I cried. My mom asked me what was wrong and the only thing I could think of was I didn't want to get older. I wanted to stay a kid, and somehow in my wise 9 almost 10 year old mind, I was getting old! I didn't cry again on my birthday until I turned 40!
Tanner didn't cry on his birthday, as you can see his excitement as he opened his gifts! His reaction was priceless. I love this little man so much! He is so sweet and kind to me. Happy Birthday Tanner!
80's day!!
Spirit Week at school is always fun! Addy and Tanner got to live a day dressed like we did back in the 80's. Those were good days!!!

Looking Good!
SO... a couple of weeks ago I went to Sam's Club and while shopping an older man kept smiling at me and even complimented me a few times. I was feeling pretty good about myself! THEN... a few hours later I was driving down 59th avenue and stopped at the light at Thunderbird. As I sat waiting for the light to turn green, I noticed there was a fire truck on the opposite side of the intersection and the fire men were smiling and waving at me. So of course I did the polite thing and waved back! By this time I was feeling really good about myself. I was thinking wow I must look really good today. I think I am going to do my hair this way everyday! I think I am going to wear this outfit more often! This is a great day! THEN... as I drove through the intersection and looked in my rear view mirror I noticed there was another fire truck right behind me! All I could do was laugh!!!
Random
A few days ago while riding in the car on the way home from school Tanner says to me: "Mom, I might not be very good at reading, but I am really good at smelling and hearing!" I laughed really hard! I am grateful for all of the talents my kids have!
Disneyland
It had been 3 years since we had been to Disneyland, so when the Westover's invited us to go with them, we were in! It was a quick, fun trip. We told our kids on Wednesday morning that we would be leaving for Disneyland when they got home from school that day! They were beyond excited! We all had a great time, despite the down pour of rain we experienced the second day!

Valentines Day!
It is really fun having cute teenage girls! This is what we found on our front porch on the morning of February 14th! It was meant for Amanda, from an admiring boy!
Youth Olympics!
The Sunday we were put into the Glendale Stake we were told that they would be starting their annual Youth Olympics on Tuesday (in 2 days) and they would like us to be a part of it! So, the stake people came and showed the youth a power point presentation of past Youth Olympics, so we would know what all was involved. The program is incredible! They have been doing these stake Youth Olympics for like 30 years! There was volleyball, ping pong, chess, bike race, track and field, racket ball, archery, performing arts, scholastics, and fine arts which included photography, videography, sewing, crafting, sculpting, wood working and cooking! The Olympics lasted for 3 weeks. Then at the end they had an awards banquet where they gave out ribbons and metals. It was amazing! The first night we arrived at the stake center giant signs were hanging up, welcoming us to the stake! It was so nice. The kids loved it. It was perfect timing, all of the youth in the stake know each other, and are friends! We have had big groups of kids from the stake at our house every weekend since then!

A New Stake
The New Year started out with an announcement made at church that we would be having a special meeting with our ward and the Desert Palms ward the first Sunday of the year. We were told not to speculate! Come on, really? Who is not going to speculate? To tell you the truth, we really couldn't figure out what this could be about. The Desert Palms ward is pretty small, but our ward isn't really big enough to take people out of it. Needless to say that was a long week of wondering! We arrived to the meeting early and awaited our fate! Just as the meeting was about to start, in walked the Stake Presidency of the Glendale Arizona Stake. Since we moved to this house 12 years ago, we have been in the Glendale Arizona North Stake. It all started to make sense now, we were going to be put in the Glendale Stake. And yes, that is what happened. I wasn't sure what to think about it at first. But our new stake president spoke and told a story of when he was a child and changed school's. He was scared, and not happy about not having any friends. Then a boy came up to him and said, "I hear you a are Mormon, so am I. My mom says we need to be friends." And so it is with us, we are all Mormon, and we will be friends!
The change has been great! We have met a lot of new friends, and have felt more then welcome into our new stake.
