Thanksgiving Day Run!

Amanda mentioned to me that her friend Mallory was running in the Thanksgiving Day Run at the Peoria Sports Complex and she wanted to do it with her.  I then found out that our friends, the Matthews were also going to run!  So we signed up!  Addy and Tanner ran the 1 mile, and Justin, Amanda, and I all ran the 5K (3.2 miles).  Alyssa was planning to run, but woke up not feeling well.  It worked out well though, because we then had a photographer and coat holder!  It was 46 degrees out and the wind was blowing, it was freezing!!!!  It was so much fun.  I am definitely planning to do this again!

The Family!!

I did it!!!  My first race since grade school! It was so much fun, I can't wait to do it again!

A Clean Sweep!!!!

On Saturday Addy did it!!! She had a goal to win first place in all of her Cross Country meets this year, and then take first place at the district meet.  Check!
Addy with her team mates.  Our school took first, second, and third place.  Making it possible for them to win first place as a team!!!  Way to go Addy and the 5th and 6th grade girls from Marshall Ranch!!!

Harvest Dance

On the day of Addy's 12th birthday, the Mutual activity was the annual Stake Harvest Dance.  Addy wanted to go to the dance, and then celebrate her birthday another night!  So Alyssa and Amanda helped her get ready for her first dance, make up and all!  Alyssa even had her friend Scott come over and help teach Addy how to slow dance, it was really cute, I wish I would have taken a picture!  They all had a great time, and Addy was even asked to dance 3 times!

                                                My 3 beautiful girls!
                                         Amanda, Kerry, Emily, and Alyssa
Addy with her new clothes and make up!

Bug-A-Roo turns 12!!!!

I know,  I can't believe it either, my little Bug-A-Roo is now 12!  Some of the things that Addy loves are:  Doing the Best at everything she does, she is very competitive in athletics and school!  Running, playing the piano, taking care of what ever pet she has at the time (right now she has hamsters that she got for her birthday), painting her fingernails and toenails, curling her hair, dressing in cute clothes, swimming, eating spaghetti, spending time with her friends, helping around the house.  We love Addy, and feel lucky to have her in our family!

Halloween 2010

Because Halloween fell on Sunday this year, all of our trick-or-treating was done at the Church Trunk-r-Treat.  Alyssa and her friend Emily passed out candy from our car, while Amanda did a little activity for the little kids next to our car.  It was as FUN as always!

Homecoming Dance 2010

Because Alyssa and Amanda are not yet 16, and unable to date, they went to the Cactus Homecoming dance with their friends.  It is so FUN getting them all dressed up and decked out!

Cross Country Meets

Addy and Tanner are off to a good start running on the Marshall Ranch Cross Country team again this.  We have had 2 meets and Addy took first place both times!  Way to go Addybug!!!  Tanner is also a great runner, he took 13th place in the first meet, and 11th place in the 2nd meet.  I love that they run, it is so exciting to watch them give it their ALL!

Vintage Garden Decor

My GREAT friend Bethany Matthews and I were asked by the principal of our kids school to organize and decorate for the Peoria Unified School District Principals/PTO dinner that was held at our school. He told us to go all out, and that we had zero, yes I said zero dollars budgeted for decor!

Bethany got right to work, looking for decorating ideas. She came up with a vintage garden idea. She made all of the topiary trees on the tables, and had her girls help her make white tissue paper poofs! We then took a trip over to Darla's house (Justin's mom) to see what she had that we could borrow! And of course Darla loaded us up! I then got another great friend, Karen Leon, to help me sew all of the table toppers. I really am grateful for the people in my life that are so willing to help.

On September 15th this is what we were able to create with everything that we gathered. (Bethany completely un-decorated her house and brought it all with her to the school!)

I think that it turned out AMAZING!!!! THANKS TO BETHANY!!!!! I am lucky to have such a great friend!

The AWESOME 6th graders that helped set up, serve, and clean up! They were all incredible!

Vote for me and you'll see!

Last week while Addy, Tanner and I were out running for cross country practice (at 8:00pm), Addy tells me that she wants to run for student council tomorrow and she wants to bring a treat to pass out when she gives her speech. I said, you should have told me about this when you got home from school, and not waited until 8:00pm! So, being the resourceful person Addy is, she looked through the snack cabinet and came up with this idea. I didn't have to go to the store at 8:30pm after all!

30 minutes later Addy had made 30 of these little treats with her slogan. I think the googlie eyes make a cute accent!

Today is the BIG day when her class will vote. GOOD LUCK BUG!

This is the speech she gave:

Hi 6th grade! My name is Addy King and today I am going

to tell you why I want to be the Student Council rep.

for Miss Morrison’s class! I am a very fun, energetic, and

outgoing person! I love to get involved.I have been on the

Marshall Ranch Cross Country team since 2nd grade.

I even helped the 5th grade girls win first place in the

district meet last year.

A few reasons why I feel I would make a good class

representative are:

First, I am a good listener.

Second, I am a fast learner.

Third, I have been in student council since -

well, actually this is my first year!

And Fourth, I will do my very best in everything,

including trying to attend all the meetings and games.

SO

VOTE FOR ME AND YOU’LL SEE!!!

And so it is, another school year begins. Time really, really needs to s l o w down!! I am getting tired of it going by so fast! It seems like it was just a few years ago that they were ALL little! Sunday night we watched home videos from the past, and it really made me wish I had taken a LOT more video. That is my new goal, to be a better video taking mom!!!

Here are pictures taken the first day of school, each modeling their own style!

Funny Tanner

Last week I when I picked Tanner up from Cub Scouts he got in the car and said "This would be a lot more fun if there were girls here!"
